Phil Hughes, I Think I Love You

Tonight I saw the Phil Hughes I’ve been waiting for since his first game versus Toronto earlier in the year, and goddamn it was beautiful. It was awesome to see him do well against a good team, and I am hoping that he will keep this up through this tough stretch of the schedule.

I was especially happy to see them not afraid to move away from his fastball this game, because that is what really did him in the last time since he lost his control a bit. He has a really, really nasty curve that was dead-on all night. I hope to see him go 7 next time.

Joba Chamberlain also made his second appearance, looking even better than the last time. The linescore really says it all about his performance:

jesus christ joba

Hopefully they won’t keep him pitching two at a time because if Torre/whoever else kills him before we get to see the “real” Joba I will kill them in return.
