The Yankees avoided a sweep today, thankfully. Yesterday was…a game. Chien-Ming Wang looked okay though not as good as he has in most of his starts (too many walks!) but kept the Yankees in the game, the problem was mostly that dastardly Cliff Lee who absolutely refuses to fall to Earth. Your BaBIP is around .200 Cliff, please join us here on the planet!
Today Mike Mussina threw five good innings (probably could have gone six, he had settled down and all that), did not give up any homeruns and didn’t walk anyone even though it is exactly the sort of weather outside that makes him neurotic. His slight meltdown came when he hit a batter and then Bobby Abreu realized he was near a wall and forgot how to play the baseball game which seems to happen a lot!
Joba took my advice and didn’t throw any belt high fastballs today!! Here is what he served Dellucci, who is the guy that hit the homerun off him before:

All fastballs today, too, except that last pitch to Dellucci which was a slider.
Hilarious factoid: As of right now, Jason Giambi has hit 6 homeruns this season. 3 of them are off Paul Byrd and 2 off Mike Timlin.
Also this guy is a pretty good pitcher:
