How To Waste A Pitcher At-Bat

I was looking over the box score of the Phillies/Giants game and saw this:

IBB – O Vizquel 3 (by A Eaton, C Durbin)

Wondering why anyone would ever intentionally walk Omar Vizquel I dug through the play-by-play. I figured maybe it was to try and set up a 1-out double play. No, it was far funnier than that.

Bottom 2nd: San Francisco
- B. Molina singled to left
- A. Rowand walked, B. Molina to second
- J. Bowker singled to left, B. Molina scored, A. Rowand to second
- J. Castillo grounded into double play second to shortstop to first, A. Rowand to third, J. Bowker out at second
- O. Vizquel intentionally walked
- J. Sanchez struck out swinging

This is hilariously stupid managing and wastes a pitcher at-bat to lead off an inning. Good job, Charlie Manuel.
