Last night marked the fourth night in a row that Mariano Rivera pitched. He has pitched three games in a row a lot, but I was unsure about more than that so I decided to look up the times Rivera has pitched four games in a row over his career on Baseball Reference and came up with:
- June 6th-10th, 2008 – This was last night.
- June 1st-4th, 2004 – He also pitched the 6th, 8th and 9th of that month.
- July 6th-8th, 2000 – I am counting this one because on the 8th he pitched both ends of a double header.
That’s three times in a career in its 13th season. What I’m saying is, I hope he gets some rest tonight and tomorrow. I guess once every four years isn’t bad.
