How Many Times Is This Going To Happen?

Andy Pettitte, after getting screwed by his defense in the first inning (haha Yankees defense haha), goes 5 strong innings afterward and is at about 100 pitches. Joe Girardi–after insane bullpen machinations the last few games–brings him out for another inning in a close (4-2) game.

Andy Pettitte, being tired, doesn’t pitch very well. Oh, but there is nobody getting ready in the bullpen to bail him out immediately as should happen so he has to try and pitch out of it and it doesn’t work.

Finally someone–in this case Jose Veras–is ready. And all the inherited runners score because hey, Jose Veras kind of sucks and never knows where his pitches are going (wild pitches are the best!). Game is no longer close.

How many times is this going to happen before Girardi stops doing it??

Other than the out of nowhere insane bullpen desperation, this is the only thing about Girardi that bugs me. He has done this to Pettitte no less than 4 (and it might be more) times this season.
