YES Says No To Jim Kaat

Catching up with my RSS feeds today, I found this from Bob Raismann of the Daily News:

Although he is back in the mix, Kaat won’t be returning to YES’ Yankees booth. MLB sources said Kaat reached out to YES suits, offering his services on a limited basis at a reasonable price.

Sources said Kaat, who was not looking for major dough or a monster schedule, was told YES had no room for him because of budgetary constraints and scheduling.

Dream that will never come true: Dump Michael Kay to free up some time and money for Kitty!

Kaat has been doing some work for MLB Network covering the World Baseball Classic, and it’s been awesome hearing his voice again. He’s not the best and he does whine about some things I don’t agree with (“babying” pitchers/etc) but he is a joy to listen to. Hopefully he’ll turn up more on the MLB Network if YES can’t find a way to get Kitty in the booth for a bit. Of course, from Raissman’s article it sounds like YES doesn’t want him there, but I refuse to believe that because it’s pretty dumb.
