You win some games, and you lose some games. Mariano doesn’t convert every save. It really sucks when he blows one, but that’s just life and unless he starts going all Joe Borowski there’s no need for concern. If he doesn’t blow it, the Yankees win the game but when you leave 28 runners on base you kind of deserve a loss.
For the second time in two games, the Yankees had the bases loaded nobody out and scored zero runs. Some of this is because a few batters are gravitating back to their normal level of batting average and on base percentage and can’t be avoided (Robinson Cano is not going to hit .35o forever, though it would be nice) but it’s not the only reason.
The Yankees are carrying over their awful hitting with runners in scoring position from last season. How does this happen? I honestly don’t know, your approach shouldn’t change that much with people on second and third. I want to say it’s mostly bad luck but it’s really painful to watch.
In any case, Alex Rodriguez can’t come back soon enough. Only 2-3 more weeks until his return.
